Wow, what a day we had at SCITP this year!
This is a big show for NRT and it is very close to our hearts. Last year was our first year attending as NRT as we had only just formed. We had 4-5 cars on display, no flags, no merch and certainly no gazebo. But what a difference a year has made to our wonderful club and community, you guys have blown us away with your support and enthusiasm. At the time of writing this we are coming up towards 1000 members on our FaceBook page, thats amazing and we cannot wait to see the count cross 1k members.
So this years SCITP the NRT road show turned out in force with our gazebo, flags, new merch and 18 (19 if you include our new RC truck) of your cars on display. I can tell you it was a very proud moment for us when we took a minute to step back and look at what we have created. To see the range and quality of cars on display, seeing you guys laughing and chatting in the gazebo but especially seeing the amount of interest our stand got from the public really made our day.
An extra surprise came from a couple of our members Hardy & Alex when they turned up at the meeting point in their 1974 mk1 Celica. My jaw hit the floor when i saw it as the mk1 Celica has been one of my favourite cars for quite some time. The sneaky sods had managed to keep it quiet for the last year while they was restoring and workinng on it, and their effort has certainly paid off. What a car! At big shows we organise a Best in Group Award voted for by the public who come to the stand. So all day the admin team was asking them to vote for the best car on our stand and it became obvious pretty early on who was going to win, and win it absolutely did. Well deserved too guys. I hope to do a walk around video of their beautiful Celica soon for you guys to drool over so keep an eye our for that.
Next show for us will be The Jorvik Run at the NY500 cafe, so we hope to see you guys there for more NRT goodness.
